Cultural and gastronomic indulgences during lunch and brunch buffets from 13th to 15th April 2019
The St. Regis Bangkok presents a feast of flavors showcasing the rich culinary heritage of Thailand from past to present in celebration of the traditional Thai New Year. Songkran specials are available as part of the lunch buffet on the 13th and 15th of April, and the Sunday Brunch on 14th April 2019 at VIU Restaurant.
Songkran is a time for friends and family to welcome the new year and come together over a scrumptious feast. On this festive occasion, the menu at VIU is embellished with modern interpretations of classic Thai dishes and street food traditions with highlight dishes including: lotus leaf miang of grilled river prawns; blue swimmer crab with pickled garlic and peanuts with crunchy rice cakes; rich red curry of grilled duck breast with sour tomatoes and holy basil; and smoked wagyu beef brisket with tamarind and dried prawn dipping sauce.
The classic Royal Thai summertime dish of rice soaked in chilled, jasmine-scented water takes center stage at a dedicated Khao Chae trolley. A large selection of side dishes to be enjoyed with the Khao Chae includes stuffed sweet peppers, kapi (shrimp paste) balls, shredded sweetened meat, crispy sesame-coated fish, and sweet pickled Chinese turnips.
Enhancing the authentic experience of celebrations is a Thai khim musical performance on the 14th of April and traditional hand garland display and demonstrations throughout the three days.
The Songkran Lunch Buffet is presented from noon to 2:30 PM on 13th and 15th April 2019 at VIU Restaurant and priced at THB 1,288++ per person.
The Songkran Sunday Brunch is presented from 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM on 14th April 2019 at VIU Restaurant. Prices are THB 2,850++ per person inclusive of free-flow non-alcoholic beverages, or THB 1,299++ add-on per person, for free-flow wine, sparkling wine, Siam Mary, martini, beer, smoothies, and juice.
