Sit back, relax and join St. Regis Bangkok as they collaborate with fine jewelry brand, Qeelin to present an exclusive, limited-edition afternoon tea set for two people, served daily from 2:00pm-5:00pm, throughout June & July 2018.
Guests can indulge in extravagant designer bites at The. St. Regis Bar and The Drawing Room located on the 12th floor of the hotel, while looking over the verdant Royal Bangkok Sports Club and cityscape beyond.
Award-winning Creative Director Dennis Chan established Qeelin to merge fine craftsmanship with cultural inspiration from Asia. The result is striking jewelry that is infused with tradition, symbolic values and a playful touch.
Collaborating with the experts in the timeless tradition of afternoon tea, The St. Regis Bangkok, Qeelin x St Regis Bangkok has created deliciously luxurious sweet and savory treats which references the exquisite East-meets-West aesthetics and colors of the iconic Qeelin collections. These decadent delights are served on a distinctively designed presentation stand, in the signature gourd-shape of Qeelin’s WULU collection, together with complimentary TWG tea or coffee.
The Qeelin Afternoon Tea signature pastry items include the three colors; The Black and The Red are the brand’s color and The Gold represents the wealth in Asian culture.
Representing the Bo Bo collection, The Black sees a chocolate panda atop charcoal biscuit, chocolate ginger crémeux and chocolate mousse. It is an interesting flavor combination of dark chocolate and ginger, starting with a musky sweetness from the dark chocolate mousse and ending with a tad spiciness from the ginger crémeux.
The Red is a raspberry glazed jewel, with gianduja cream and a WULU collection pattern embossed into chocolate. Tangy raspberry purée sits atop a chocolate cake and mousse combination. The tart shell itself is perfect in firmness. On the overall, the dark chocolate balances out the sweetness of the raspberry purée perfectly.
The Gold is a nod to the Chinese Year of the Dog and inspired by the Wang Wang collection, with mandarin-flavor cake, lightly laced with coffee, gold covered chocolate and a logo-emblazoned macaron featuring Wang Wang. The sweet mandarin cake hides a surprise in its center where you’ll find a small dollop of coffee mousse. A hint of bitterness amongst a sea of sweetness strikes a right balance, that will leave you wanting more.
The Qeelin Afternoon Tea set also includes traditional raisin tea scones – done to perfection, with a slight crisp on its surface and a slightly soft interior. The scones are served with an assortment of spreads like devonshire clotted cream, chantilly cream, mixed berry jam and strawberry jam.
Other sweet delights include the Jasmine tea macarons that have more crunch in their shell than a normal macron, while their filling is faintly scented with jasmine tea.
As well as coconut vanilla cake, a staple in afternoon tea delights, that is topped off with coconut shavings for a little extra texture.
For those that crave some savories, the Tea set also has a tempting selection, featuring: Boston lobster and tom yum mayo soft rolls where the sweetness from the lobster, with the lightly Tom yum flavored mayonnaise is perfectly complimented with the soft butter bun and lightly topped off with spring onion.
Duck liver mousse profiterole with coconut, a slightly crispy puff that is stuffed with mashed up foie gras and topped with coconut flakes for texture.
Norwegian salmon gravlax, honey mustard and red onion, on rye bread, a highly savory treat that is salty but when paired with rye bread, makes for a wonderful mouthful.
And last but not least, salami and mustard butter pretzel rolls featuring pork salami finely sliced and sandwiched between pretzel rolls. The salami leaves a smoky aftertaste long after the scrummy treat is ingested.
Egg mayonnaise, black truffle paste and caviar – one of my personal favourites, it’s a unique spin on the classic egg mayo. Served in an open egg shell, the truffle infused egg mayo leaves you wanting more with it’s lingering truffle taste.
At THB 1,800++ per set for two people, each Qeelin Afternoon Tea set also includes a complimentary Qeelin gift certificate, which is redeemable at the SETTE PECCATI boutique, on the M Floor of Siam Paragon, available while stocks last.
